2008: Deacon as Servant Leader: In Justice to a Wider World

     Join us July 20-23 2008 as we return to the beautiful and historic campus of Xavier university in Cincinnati, Ohio for presentations and workshops designed to accompany us back to our parishes.

As to the activities, Archbishop Joseph Kurtz will begin the week with liturgy at 4 on Sunday. We will have a wide range of workshops during the 4 days with practical ideas to assist in our ministries.

NDICE 2007
 

The NDICE Board would like to thank all of those who attended NDICE 2007.  We had about 270 registered participates.  Our speakers were excellent and very well received by the participants.  For those of you who were not able to attend, as well as those who attended, many of the sessions are available via pos cast on the NDICE website.  We would encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.  It was an excellent opportunity to reflect on our own spirituality, to renew old acquaintances and to make new friends. 
 
The speakers were:  Bishop Daniel Conlon (Stubenville, OH); Bishop Fredrick Campbell (Columbus, OH); Bishop William Skylstad (Spokane, WA); Rev. Anthony Ciorra (Dean of the Graduate School of Religious Education at Fordham Univeristy); Deacon William Ditewig (Executive Director of the USCCB Secretariat for the Diaconate);Sr. Anne Bryan Smollin (therapist, lecturer, author and former teacher); Rev. James Schmitmeyer (Ripley, Ohio - pastor, author and homiletics instructor); Deacon John & Rae Pistone (Chicago - regular contributors of articles to the Deacon Digest); Rev. Ted Ross (The Athenaeum of Ohio - Assistant Professor of Church History and Historical Theology); and Rev. Patrick Manning (Instructional Vice-Rector/Vice President of the Pontifical College Josephinum).  All presenters dealt with topics related to Spirituality as it applies to the servant leader.
 
Election of officers was conducted at the annual business meeting.  The current members of the board are as follows:
Hal Belcher - Past President; Bob Markert - President; Max Roadruck - President-Elect; Hank Babin - Executive Secretary; Don Deitz - Secretary; Joe Wenzler - Treasurer; Ken Mitchell - Coordinator with Xavier Univeristy for the conference; Ralph O'Bleness and Gordon Cartwright - Liturgists.
 
The board would like to extend its deep appreciation to Clif Perryman and Gordon Cartwright for their dedicated service to NDICE.  Clif just completed his three year term as president-elect, president and past president.  Gordon just completed his term as secretary.  It has been a privilege to work with these outstanding individuals.  May God Bless them in their future endeavors.
 
Again, we would like to remind you that NDICE will return to Xavier University again this year.  The dates for NDICE 2008 are July 20-23, 2008.
 

The goal of NDICE 2008 is to provide attendees with the theological basis and practical tools that underpin this significant leadership responsibility.
